Jack Hewitt
A teenager has admitted firing metal pellets at an Edinburgh primary school and injuring 8 pupils.

Jack Hewitt, 17, from Edinburgh, pleaded guilty to recklessly discharging a ball-bearinggun at Gilmerton Primary School on 30 May 2013.

At Edinburgh Sheriff Court he also admitted injuring 8 pupils, four aged 9 and four aged 10.

Jordan Lennox, who was hit in the arm in the attack
Fiscal Depute Susan Dickson said the students suffered red marks, bruising and discomfort on their bodies.

Hewitt she said, told the police he had been firing from his bedroom window and "had been stupid".

He had added "I won't do anything like this again".

Deferring sentence for background reports on Hewitt, who had no previous convictions, Sheriff Isabella McColl asked his defence solicitor, Peter Winning: "Is there any explanation for this?"

Mr Winning said his client was due to sit his final exams the following day and added "I think it was stress".

So the shooting was as a result of exam stress? Are exams that stressful? What's the most mischievous thing you did to avoid writing your exams? How do you relieve exam stress?
